Category: Intermediate Indoor Cycling Workout
Duration of Workout: 52 minutes
Total Run Time: 58 minutes
Intensity Level: 7/10
Description: This workout is organized in the format of a traditional indoor cycling class; that is exercise segments punctuated by short 30 second recovery periods. Set to a backdrop of scenes shot along the route of the penultimate stage of the 2011 AMGEN Tour of California, imagine doing the same climb three times and at the top of the climb finding a four-way intersection with each road taking you back to the base of the climb a different way. The climb up is about 8 minutes long and each of the ways down takes between 4-1/2 to 6-1/2 minutes. During this workout, join hundreds of fellow cyclists enjoying the incredibly beautiful scenery of Mount Baldy, California, USA.
If using a heart rate monitor aim to stay mainly in Zone 3, extending into Zone 4 on the hill climbs. To make this a more challenging ride change your resistance mapping so most of your workout is done in Zone 4. See the Ride Fit Training Guide relating to the concept of resistance mapping. The video has text-based workout instructions and the overlaid digital dashboard shows resistance, target cadence, perceived effort level and has an elevation profile showing you where you are and what's coming next.
